Velocity of a cockroach

I just finished reading a book called Velocity by Dean Koontz. I have read some of his books before and I have always liked his writing style. His books are a mixture of murder mystery and sci-fi thriller. His books always seem to have some unexpected twist at the end and this one was no different. Velocity didn't have any of the sci-fi stuff in it and was purely a twisting, turning mystery. Kind of a "Who done it" type of book with a modern twist. I will warn you, if you get squemish reading about severed limbs and basic details about a crime scenel this is probably not the book for you. On the other hand, no pun intended, if you can look past all that, the book will have your mind racing trying to figure out the next move.

On to other business...

I talked to one of my friends who also happens to be a guy that works in my office on weekends at the Guard and he told me that one of our long time co-workers from Civil Engineering was saved at his church this past weekend. I thought that was pretty cool!

Let me think, what can I tell you that is exciting from Spain...Hmm...How about a good cockroach story? I was typing last nights blog when I heard a "Clicking" noise. I looked down and there was the biggest cockroach I have ever seen. If you have ever been down south around Gulfport Mississippi you know what kind of big roach I'm talking about. They are really a beetle but they look just like a giant cockroach, some people call them water bugs. I tried to kill it, but it was too fast. Somewhere in the search for the little fella, I lost him...needless to say, I slept with one eye open last night. I got up this morning only to be greeted by the same bug in my bathroom. Once again I tried to kill him and once again he eluded me. So, today I bought a can of bug killer and doused the room and behind the bathroom vanity with it. So far, no bug! It was a pretty big bug and I was a little afraid it would take the can of bug spray away from me and beat me over the head with it. I'm trying to convince myself that either I killed it or maybe the maid killed it this morning. Funny how sittin in the deer woods; bugs, snakes, and creepy crawlers never cross my mind but in my dark bedroom, it's a different story. You know, your mind starts playing tricks on you and suddenly you think there's something crawling on you under the sheets...It's usually nothing but your mind won't let go of it until you check...Oh, sorry! Hope that doesn't make it difficult for any of you to go to sleep tonight. Until tomorrow..........
Cockroach update: 11:00 p.m. local time. Cockroach sited, radar locked on target, releasing radar guided cockroach killing missle. ok, that's the cool Air Force version. The real story is, it came staggering across the floor from my bathroom, apparently my bug spray did the trick either that or this bug had one too many drinks at the local tavern. I grabbed my trusty can of bug spray and put an end to his short stay in my room. Wahoo! Now I can sleep easy tonight...unless there's more of them? Ah nuts, I just gave myself the heebie jeebies again!
