Today I went to Seville to do some sightseeing. I went to the cathedral where Christopher Columbus is supposedly buried. He is entombed in a huge shrine. The cathedral is very ornate with lots of silver and gold artifacts. There was some writing from the Roman era dating to 1650 AD it was pretty cool. I also saw the largest pipe organ I have ever seen. It had large detailed carvings of many different Saints and of Michael the Archangel. Whoever designed the organ did some interesting engineering. Picture a large Chior loft that is completely enclosed on 3 sides by this enormous pipe organ. There are pipes that are not part of the organ but run out to all parts of the cathedral. These are meant to carry the sound of a full chior to all parts of the cathedral. In this particular cathedral you can also go into the 30 story bell tower if you decide to...I recommend it should you ever get the chance to visit here. There are many different bells in the tower and each bell is in memory of a different Priest or Saint. they still ring them every hour and I wish I would have had some ear plugs or planned a little better because I was in the bell tower at 10:00 and man was it loud! If I say "Huh" a lot when I get home, I apologize. (ha ha) I think my ears are still ringing. The only way to get anywhere from here is to either rent a car or take the bus that brings the workers on and off base from the neighboring towns. We are allowed to take the "Worker Bus" as long as there is room. Lucky for me, there was room today. I left on the 0800 worker bus and returned on the 1600 bus. I must have walked 5 miles and man were my dogs barking when I got back.
So, I'm taking it easy tonight. It's is Old Western night here in my humble abode! I am going to watch a couple of old Clint Eastwood flicks. I'm going to start with "Hang Em High" and if I make through all of that one without falling asleep, I might watch "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" For you guys out there that are old western fans just the mention of "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" instanly makes you think of the familiar tune that is associated with the movie. I bet your whistling it right now, aren't you?
Well, I guess that's about all for today. Until tomorrow.... Have a great weekend!
