Breaking news....I got a haircut today! Ok, so it wasn't really breaking news, actually it wasn't news at all, but unfortunately that was the highlight of the day. Unless of course you want to hear about filing and typing reports which is equally boring! One of the girls that works at the gym, Michelle, is a licensed hairdresser and she gives a lot of the Americans haircuts so we don't have to go to the Spanish barber! She's not supposed to do it because of some stupid rule, but sometimes you just gotta break the rules...especially when it involves getting a haircut from a guy that speaks absolutely NO english! I was telling her that Melissa is about to go take her state board and that she had a job lined up at Mastercuts. Michelle started laughing and as she put the cape around my neck, I looked down and there printed on the cape was "Mastercuts" apparently she works at one of their stores in Massachutsetts. I thought that was pretty funny!
I heard from Papa in Law, Cleave today. He left a comment on yesterdays post. It was good to hear from him. Also heard from Philip, I think I eased his fears that I was getting to much culture while I was here.
Well, we are now at day 15 in the 40 day journey; Signs of Life. Today starts the section on worn out knees. As you can imagine, I'm sure the theme over the next several days will focus on prayer. I know I certainly don't pray enough! Today's chapter started out with a great quote: "One of the reasons we're so worn out from life is that our knees aren't!"
We don't have to kneel to have worn out knees, as a matter of fact, Dr. Jeremiah tells of Jesus having many different postures for prayer. Standing with his eyes towards the heavens, lying in bed, walking...etc.
Worn out knees mean Reverence, Obedience, & Dependence on God!
Life Sign, Day 15: Hearing the Lord's direction begins with prayer.
Life in Action, Day 15: What evidence of a yielded life, if any, do my knees bear? What can I do to guard my time of prayer each day?
