"Alright then"

Wednesday has been a pretty uneventful day. I spend most Wednesdays in meetings all day! I only got to see the kids for a couple minutes today because every other week we have a meeting at 2:00 so I usually only get about 10 minutes. They are so cute in the mornings when they are still half asleep trying to talk to me. Lily was "Grumpy" today and didn't want to talk and Connor was mad because he had to stop talking because I had to go, he was giving me the details of his shooting expedition with Mr. Jackie. Those two are so different, one won't hardly say anything and the other won't be quiet!
I'll try not to write about any cultural events as my friend Philip is getting worried that I am getting too much culture while I am here. Next thing you know, I'll be hosting classical music nights and a literary club out at the building! Maybe we can start out with a group reading of "Tales of the Alhambra" followed up by a festive night of listening to Bach? Well, maybe not, how about instead we go play golf and listen to 80's music? Don't worry Philip, I don't think my brain can hold too much of that stuff!

I am usually reminded by someone at least once a day that I am from Arkansas, usually because of the way I say something. One of the Airfield Managers makes fun of me because I always say "Alright then" like Carl in Slingblade. I guess I have made it a habit and not even realized it. It's funny how you do something for a while and you don't even realize you are doing it. I don't really know where I was going with that, but I thought some of you might find it funny.

Ok, for those of you who might actually be keeping up with me in this Bible study, I'll give you an update where we are in Signs of Life: If you remember I told you in one of my posts that there are 5 things that help define us as Christians. Dusty shoes, Worn-Out knees, Rolled up sleeves, An open hand, and Outstretched arms. Today we will finish up the section on dusty shoes. If you think back to the Life Sign for the past 14 days, the topic always dealt with sharing the Gospel either through our actions, our speech, or the way we carry ourselves. Tomorrow we will start the section on Worn-Out knees and living a yielded life.

Life sign, Day 14: Everyday I create incriminating evidence to prove that I am a follower of Christ.

Life in Action, Day 14: What can I do to improve my chances of being convicted of being a Christian?

I loved Slingblade and the part where they ask Carl to fix that lawn mower. He had it running in about 30 seconds, and they said "what did you do to it?" He said " Put some gas in it ". Kinda shows you who the dummies were.
That reminds me of what the great Oklahoman, Will Rogers said back in the day. " Everybody's ignorant, just in different subjects." How true.
Well Mike, enjoy the ride.
Father-in-law, Cleave
