I bought a copy of Popular Mechanics yesterday. I hadn't read a copy of the magazine in a long time. It hasn't changed a whole lot, they still have a lot of interesting articles about how to do all kinds of things. For instance, I read an article that taught you how to build a solar powered backpack that will provide power to your I-Pod when you go hiking! Hmm...I wonder if there are lots of hikers that need this? I bet that MacGyver read Popular Mechanics, how else would he know how to weld metal together with nothing but a chewing gum wrapper and a pencil? I remember that my Grandpa Frederick used to read it all the time. When he lived in Texas, I remember him telling me once that he thought it would be neat to build one of the kit helicopters that they sold in the back. It's funny, but they still sell the same kit in the back of the magazine, maybe they only made one and they just haven't sold it yet? Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen one...
Speaking of crazy do it yourself technology, how about the "Rocket Man" that flew across the English Channel with a homemade jetpack today? He was airborne for approximately 12 minutes and landed in a field on the England side of the channel. Pretty Amazing!
Well, it looks like my rant yesterday paid off, I think the politicians all read my blog yesterday...OK, probably not! Hopefully our Nation's leaders will come up with a plan that doesn't crush the average American family. Pray for our Nation, pray for peace!
