In other news...Sunday afternoon, two gentlemen paid me a visit to inquire if I would be interested in becoming a volunteer fireman for EMP (Excelsior, Mt. Zion, Palestine) rural fire department. The requirements don't seem too demanding and will never interfere with my full time job. I'm considering it since I feel like I should contribute something to the community where we live and it really hit home after the house fire last week. I'm looking for some feedback from anyone on this subject, maybe you have been a fireman before or maybe you know someone who was and had a bad experience? I just want to make an informed decision before I go do something like this. I have nothing but respect for fire/rescue people and I have been asking our fire chief at work a lot of questions over the last couple of days, so we'll see???

My good friend Jackie Dolan called me today with some really great news! He has secured us a deer hunting lease that is only about 5 minutes from my house. How cool is that? It is really inexpensive and as of right now, there are 4-5 of us that will go in together on it. It will be nice to have a place to take Connor and not have other hunters walk into our set up or have to get to the stand earlier than everyone else so that you get the best spot. It's also nice because it will also provide a place to take Connor camping this summer and even though it is really close to home, it will seem like we are out in the middle of nowhere. There is a pond and hopefully this spring we will find out there are some fish in there but if not, Jackie seems to think we can go catch some and stock it. I'm excited to get to work on the place so that we will have a really nice hunting area next year. "Thanks Jackie for making all the phone calls and doing all the legwork to get us the place, I really appreciate it!"
Well, tomorrow is Wednesday, since our base Christmas party is on Friday, I technically only have 2 days left of work and then I get to take off for Christmas. I can't wait!
