Via Verde

This was my last totally free, non-working weekend here in Spain so I tried to make the most of it. Saturday I went to Ronda again. It's a really beautiful city that is up in the mountains. I bought Lillers a flamenco dress while I was there. I think she will look awesome in it, although, I think I may have bought a size or two too big. While I was there I saw a group of motorcycle riders that were out exploring the mountain roads around Ronda and had stopped to take a break. I can't wait to get home and go for a ride before the weather turns really cold. I took a lot of pictures while there. Janet has the same type of camera that I have been using while I have been here and she was showing me some of the features. Andria and I have been discussing purchasing one, but I think we have decided to wait until a little closer to Christmas and just make it our gift to each other. I'm a novice at this photography business, but so far the Nikon camera I have been using has been great. (Maybe they'll give me a discount on a camera in exchange for free advertising in this great literary work?) ha ha

Today Janet, Lori, Allyson, and I went hiking at the Via Verde, which is a 36 Km hiking trail that used to be an old railroad line that connected two cities. It goes through about 15-20 tunnels and it is used heavily by mountain bikers. We hiked about 6km to the Penon de Zaframagon which is in the picture above. It is a large rock outcropping that many people in Spain hike or bike out to see. This is apparently a nesting place for Griffon Vultures here and much like Eagle watching in Arkansas, it appears that people come here to watch the vultures. The trail was awesome and although it was approximately a 6 mile hike it didn't seem like it took anytime at all. The tunnels were really cool and the way the whole trail is designed is awesome. There are hotels at each end of the trail as well as one at the half way point. It would be great if we had something like this in our area that people could utilize. Maybe not as elaborate as having hotels at each end but even a short biking/walking trail would be used by many people in Greenwood.
Well, it's only a few short days until I get to step foot back in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas. I am excited to get home and see my family.
