Not like a sign from above or anything like that, I'm talking about a real sign. Today I raided our scrap metal bin at work and found some metal to make a sign for the first annual "Lead Slingers" deer camp that will be happening in a couple weeks. I know it sounds like a minuscule thing, but we want our deer camp to be fun and what better way to start it out than by putting up a sign to announce to everyone on the mountain that we are there to have a good time and hopefully harvest a few nice deer. Hopefully the sign might encourage folks to stop by. It's always fun when people from other camps stop by to visit. It's fun to hear their stories and maybe tell a few of your own, not to mention many times; you meet people that you see year after year during deer season. I know that I am really looking forward to deer camp. Sitting around the fire in the evenings talking and then crawling in to your freezing cold sleeping bag, waking up well before daylight and making your way through the dark woods to climb up in a tree and wait for a nice deer to come by, it's all part of the experience called "Deer Camp". Even if a deer never comes by, it is so awesome to be in the woods when they come alive at first light. The sights and sounds are really cool and you never know what you will see when the sun comes up. I have seen foxes, bobcats, skunks, armadillos, raccoons, squirrels, all kinds of birds, and, believe it or not, I have occasionally seen deer. It's just awesome to see a glimpse of Gods creation that you would only otherwise see on a National Geographic special or a hunting show on the Outdoor Channel.
Well, I'm happy to report that Connor is feeling better. He probably ate too much junk food and it upset his stomach, but he is fine now. He is still exhausted from the weekend though, too many laps around the cabin and the multiple trips up and down the bunk bed ladder finally wore him out!. I told him to get in bed at 7:45 tonight and there was virtually no fussing. I think he was ready to go to bed and the fussing was merely for show as a way to protest me actually telling him to go to bed. He didn't say anything like "The man is repressing me for making me go to bed" but he did tell me that technically his bedtime wasn't until 8:00 and that he should get to watch TV for a few minutes. I told him "No" and he was out like a light in less than 5 minutes...Hopefully he will sleep well tonight.
My friend Jeb has started a blog now, Jebs Words, is up and running. I've added a link to his blog on the side of my page...be sure to check it out! Jeb is never at a loss for words and I'm sure that he will have some insightful and humorous writings to pass on to the rest of us.
Tonight I was watching the travel channel and they have this show called Strange Food or something like that, basically, it's a guy that eats all kinds of disgusting things such as bugs, cow blood, spiders, and a multitude of other really gross foods. Anyway, where I was going with that was that they had a really cool ad for the Travel Channel Academy. I got online and checked it out and it looks like a really awesome experience. It is 4 days of intense training with the video and photography crews from the Travel Channel. They teach you how to film, edit, and tell the story of anywhere you travel and they use footage and even whole shows shot by their alumni on the Travel Channel. How cool would that be to get paid to travel all over and film it to be on TV? It's a little bit expensive ($2,500) but it would be a dream job if you like to travel. One of my friends from Spain took some training from National Geographic photographers and said it was a really great experience. Maybe one of these days, when I retire, I'll go do something off the wall like that! Who knows?
Well, I guess I should close up shop for tonight.
I'll leave you with a Proverb for today. If you haven't read the book of Proverbs, there is some great wisdom and advice for life in there. I encourage you to take a look, search for deeper meaning and Biblical truth, and then see how it applies to your daily life. I think you will be surprised at how something that was written so many years ago, still applies to life and everyday situations.
Proverbs 3:3-4 "Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man."

You are so right...God's creation is awesome!
Write them on the tablet of your heart...I love that part of the verse.
On the cooking part...Maybe you and Jackie can eat some pickled buzzard eggs at the deer camp. I hear that puts hair on your chest. Just kidding...well, maybe not.
Thanks for the advertisment
