Many of you who read my blog know that last year our church put on an outdoor sports banquet. We are doing that agian this year becuase last year was such a huge success. Here's what happened last year in case you didn't know. We started out with a vision to host a mens event in the community that brought fellow outdoorsmen together for a meal and also to hear Phil "The Duck Commander" Robertson to speak. Our seating capacity for the high school student union was 800 people and when the guest of honor got up to speak...it was standing room only! We gave away a brand new 4 wheeler and several guns as well as a lot of other nice prizes.
This year is no different than last year, well, ok, maybe a little different. We are hosting the event on January 31st instead of in February, we have a bigger, better 4 wheeler to give away and our prize list continues to get bigger. I want to thank Jackie Dolan and Henry Smith for doing so much of the leg work in gathering up a lot of the prizes, and making contact with vendors while I was gone to Spain.
Tickets are $5.00. What does $5.00 get you? I thought you would never ask! It gets you a BBQ dinner like you have never had, a chance to win some awesome door prizes, a chance to win the grand prize; a 4-wheeler for adults and a complete camping package for the kids division, a chance to participate in a silent auction for some really nice prizes, oh, did I mention that world renown hunter, Paige Patterson will be the guest speaker, and Steve "Wildman" Wilson will be the master of ceremonies and we have quite a few vendors that will be set up to provide you with all the outdoor gear that we guys "Need"! All that for only 5.00 you say? But wait, there's more...as part of your $5.00 you will recieve a coupon book that is full of coupons that can save you tons of money at any CV's grocery store. These coupon books sell at CV's for 5.00, but we're giving them away...It's like getting in for free because if you use the coupon book and buy $50.00 worth of groceries, you get 5.00 off your grocery bill.
So, did I sell you on the idea? I'm considering a career change to host late night infomercials on PBS!
So just to recap...here are the details:

Even if you are not a big hunter, you will enjoy this event.
Guess I should have clarified...Philip is right, even if you're not a hunter or fisherman there is something here for any outdoor enthusiast.
