Last Friday I worked at the boat show with my friend Jackie Dolan. We were selling tickets to the Outdoor Sportsmans Banquet coming up on Jan 31st. Well, business was really slow and the vendor next to us was selling magnetic bracelets that are supposed to alleviate pain. I was skeptical at first but as the afternoon wore on, I kept talking to the people next door and eventually went over to have a closer look at the stuff they were selling. I told the lady that I had pain in my knee from running and she assured me that wearing this bracelet would make the pain go away. Still not quite sure, I decided to wait a little longer before making a decision.
Business was still really slow, and once again I found myself discussing the "Benefits of magnetic therapy" with our vendors next door. As an added incentive, they told me that they would take a dollar off and charge me no tax because we were also a vendor at the boat show. WOW, what a bargain! OK, so I bought a $15.00 bracelet with high hopes that my knee pain would go away. Well I have to tell you, I have been wearing this stupid bracelet for 3 days now and guess what? My knee still hurts! To add insult to injury, I searched the internet for documented cases of magnetic therapy working and you'll never guess what I came up with...NOTHING! yeah, that's right, no documented cases by any medical doctor that magnets alleviate pain. Some scientists "Believe" that magnets work but have no data to back it up.
I'm giving it until the end of the week and if I can't tell a difference, you won't see me wearing this stupid bracelet anymore. If anyone would like to try it, I'll sell it to you for $16.00 but I'll take a dollar off and I won't charge you any sales tax...what a deal! ha ha
In case you were wondering, Jackie and I sold a whopping 7 tickets to the OSB! That's not quite 1 ticket per hour since we were there from 12:00 -8:00 but we did get a couple more vendors that want to come to the event, so I suppose it was worth the time. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, there are several people selling them or you can call the church office at 479-996-2166.
Happy Monday!
