This was a sign at the bus stop, I'm not sure what it is, but I think it's a chili and lime soft drink? It's a little cool and windy here today so I didn't get out much. I intended to get a bike from the hotel and check out some of the town by bicycle or maybe rent a car and drive out in the country but I ended up taking the bus to the mall instead. I know what you're thinking, "He went all that way and went to the mall?" Well...yeah. I wanted something different for lunch and where else to find a variety of food than a mall food court, and I was also curious about cost of things. We really take for granted some of the great prices on homes, cars, and clothes in the States. A pair of standard low top Converse Chuck Taylors are $100 here and I looked at the Isuzu truck below, 4 wheel drive, 4 door, diesel that was $65,995...Wow!
I had been curious about the price of homes here too and saw some homes for sale, one average 3 bedroom 2 bath house, 1900 Sq feet was $575,000. Here's the really interesting thing, when I talk to people that live here, it's not about stuff. One guy told me he moved here from Canada. I asked him about the cost of living and he said "I've never been poorer in my life, but I've never been happier!" I hear this from just about every person I ask about life here, they all mention that it's expensive. Seems like most folks here prefer to spend their money on life experiences like travel and events instead of financing a car until they die, seems like a good way to look at things to me. I ask them about cost of living and they ask me about the election. Funny that the rest of the World is watching our elections so closely and we have people that live in our own country that don't even know who's running for president, nor will they get out and exercise their right to vote.
I've been keeping an eye on the weather at my next destination. It was a little chilly there today.
Keep in mind that temp is in Celsius so -21 is like -5 Fahrenheit. If it were really -21 F, that would probably be like "Getting kicked by a baby donkey!" Stay tuned, I'll see what I can find tomorrow!
