In september we went to Disney world for a week. It was so fun to see the kids faces as we explored the different parks and I think they had a really good time.
Connor joined Cub Scouts this year and he seems to really be enjoying it. He is a 1st year Webelos scout and I am the assistant leader for his den. I am having a blast teaching and learning from this group of boys.
I just recently graduated from the Fort Smith Citizens Academy. What a great program! Citizens go to class once a week for an evening and learn about what makes Fort Smith run. You would be amazed at the amount of work that goes into making water safe to drink. It was also amazing to me that there is someone watching all the water towers in town 24/7, 365 days a year to make sure they are filling properly and if the need be, they can move water from one tank to another with the click of the mouse. Ever wonder how many calls the fire department actually responds to in a day or maybe you've always wanted to get a view from the top of the bucket truck? On fire department night you would learn all of those things. Lots of things that we take for granted every day and don't give another thought to. Did you know that the Fort Smith landfill is the only landfill in the USA that is sustainable for the next 60 years? It's because we have a great management plan and there is actually a science to it. Much differrent than the days of taking your trash to "The dump" Want to be a cop for a night? You drive the car, you make the arrest! It's a lot of fun and it gives you a glimpse of the daily life of a police officer. Not every session is exciting but I found every session to be interesting and If you think that you might be interested in attending Citizens Academy, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the right people
Well, I guess I should get ready to go to work. We are night flying all week, YUK!
Hope everyone has a great week
~Mike~
