How Bazaar...

Saturdays they have a bazaar on base and since Saturday is my day off, I often find myself wandering down there for something to do. This is where they let local vendors bring things on base to sell, it is a lot like an outdoor flea market back home. Today I decided to take my camera and take a few photos.

One of the many shops

Cashmere Scarves for $2.00

Stone plates, tables, chess sets..etc.

Various items for sale...hats, scarves, brass...all "Very good price for you my friend!" I actually bought most of my stuff from this guy.

Kids hustling a marine. They come up to you and say "C'mon Sir, only one dollar!"

Afghan "War Rugs" notice the AK-47 rifle in the bottom two. These are actually pretty cool. They tell a story. It's hard to see the detail but many of them describe the twin towers falling and US Soldiers coming to Afghanistan to destroy the Taliban.
Shoes...I guess you just pick two that fit, they didn't seem to be paired up
Jewelry, lots of bead work and silver. You can buy gemstones cheap here too. A couple guys have bought Rubies and other stones but I honestly don't know enough about it to know if I'm getting a good deal and if I'm even getting a real gem stone and not a piece of glass.

OK, so now you have had a little virtual tour of the Kandahar Bazaar. Hope you liked it.

Sent my footlocker home today so it's getting close to time to get out of here! Can't wait to get home!
